Cellulomonas dongxiuzhuiae sp. nov., Cellulomonas wangleii sp. nov. and Cellulomonas fengjieae sp. nov., isolated from the intestinal contents of Marmota himalayana

Abstract: Six Gram-stain-positive, aerobic or facultative anaerobic, catalase-positive, urease- and oxidase-negative, rod-shaped bacteria (zg-ZUI157T/zg-ZUI40, zg-ZUI222T/zg-ZUI199 and zg-ZUI188T/ zg-ZUI168) were characterized by a polyphasic approach. Optimal growth of the six strains was observed at pH 7.0 and 28 °C. Phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene and 247 core genes revealed that they belong to genus Cellulomonas .… Show more

“…Cellulomonas species, unique cellulose degraders, Gram-positive bacteria’s with high GC content, were not commercially significant until recently, as notions of biotransformation of cellulosic agricultural wastes arose ( Dahal et al, 2022 ; Gui Zhang et al, 2022 ; Siriatcharanon et al, 2022 ). Cellulomonas fimi , in particular, is one of the few facultative anaerobes identified to date that is capable of degrading cellulose at oxygen levels as low as 1%, which was thought to be more favorable than aerobic cellulose-degrading fungi in this regard ( Christopherson et al, 2013 ).…”

“…Strains zg-B89 T , zg-Y338 T and zg-Y908 T had similar polar lipid profiles to the closely related species with some small differences in compositions () [4, 16, 40, 41]. All three novel type strains had diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylinositol mannoside in common, with a varying number of unidentified phospholipids and unknown phosphoglycolipid (Fig.…”

“…Samples of intestinal contents of M. himalayana were collected from Nangqian County (32° 38′ 26″ N 96° 5′ 25″ E), Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province in 2018. The M. himalayana specimens were aseptically collected and processed as described previously [16]. After the diluted samples were incubated aerobically on brain heart infusion agar supplemented with 5 % (v/v) defibrillated sheep blood (BHIB) or Luria-Bertani (LB) agar at 28 °C, colonies growing on the plates were selected based on morphology diversity.…”
