“…Further studies are, however, needed to clarify which receptors are utilized by CCHFV and also the cellular distribution. The specific receptors used for viruses within the Bunyaviridae remain mostly unknown; however, ␤ 3 and ␤ 1 integrins have been shown to be used as receptors for hantavi- ruses (15,16,23). Within the Bunyaviridae family itself, little is known about polarity of infection.…”

“…Cellular entry of viruses mediated by integrins is usually dependent on an Arg-GlyAsp (RGD) motif, but the tripeptide does not contain G1 and G2 of the hantaviruses (Gavrilovskaya et al 1998(Gavrilovskaya et al , 1999. Presumably, a conserved Cys-Asn-Pro (CNP) motif, which is located at the N terminal of G2 may contribute to the interaction between HTNV and b 3 integrins (Mou et al 2006). However, integrin b 3 could not totally explain all the phenomena of viruses entering host cells, which suggests that other cell surface interactions exist between the virus and the host cells.…”

“…Song et al (2005) demonstrated that HTNV infection was partly mediated through integrin b 1 as well as through b 3 in vivo. Furthermore, 2 unidentified molecules, a 30 kDa protein on the surface of Vero-E6 cells (Kim et al 2002), recently defined as gC1qR/p32 (an acidic 32 kDa protein known as the receptor for the globular head domain of complement C1q) (Choi et al 2008), and another 70 kDa protein, might be involved in virus infection (Mou et al 2006). To date, the mechanism by which Hantaan virus Fig.…”

“…avb3 integrins serve as the primary receptors of pathogenic hantaviruses [14,18], and the dysregulation of the function of b3 integrins following infection is involved in vascular permeability [10]. b3 integrins are included in a family of adhesion receptors and are highly expressed on the surface of ECs.…”
