Cellular antioxidant activity and Caco‐2 cell uptake characteristics of flavone extracts from Labisia pumila

Abstract: Summary The structures of two extracts of flavone , obtained from the stem (L40) and leaf (S40) of Labisia pumila (LP), were identified through UHPLC‐MS/MS analysis. An 2,2′‐azobis[2‐methylpropionamidine] dihydrochloride (AAPH)‐induced hemolysis model was used and the results indicate the protective effects of flavone extracts on erythrocytes against AAPH‐induced oxidative stress, in which L40 treatment performed the better. Quantitative analysis of variations in antioxidative‐associated enzyme and non‐enzyme … Show more

“…TEER and fluorescein sodium absorptivity are typical indexes for evaluating tight junctions in the Caco-2 cell monolayer. 19 As shown in Fig. 1A, the TEER value increased steadily over the time of incubation and reached about 500 Ω cm 2 on the 12th day, which was maintained until the end of the 21-day incubation.…”

“…Researchers have used hyphenated chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques, such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS), and capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (CE/MS), to authenticate plant materials. In this systematic review study, LC/MS ( Giaze et al, 2019 ), LC/MS/MS ( Dharmani et al, 2019 ), UPLC/MS/MS ( Wu et al, 2019 ), and LC/ESI/TOF ( Avula et al, 2011 ) were used to determine phytochemical compositions of different M. pumilum plant parts, whereas UPLC-ESI/MS/MS was used to detect components between M. pumilum var. alata and var.…”

“…The total flavonoid mainly composes of flavonoids, isoflavones, flavanols, isoflavanones, and dihydroisoflavones. The parent compound of flavonoids is quercetin, myricetin, kaempferol, rutin, protocatechunic acid, catechin, naringin, daidzein, genistein, and anthocyanin (Wu et al, 2019). It was proven that total flavonoids had been effectively scavenging the free radicals of most types of oxidizing molecules, including the singlet oxygen and various free radicals (Bravo, 2009).…”
