‘Cell cycle’ and ‘cell death’- related genes are differentially expressed during long – term in vitro real-time cultivation of porcine oviductal epithelial cells

Abstract: Alterations in cells depend on their genetic material, its activation and translation of the products. The genes responsible for the cell cycle processes and apoptosis of porcine oviductal cells have been presented in our study. The processes occurring in the reproductive system of females are extremely complex and require in-depth knowledge. Thanks to in vitro studies on the fallopian tube epithelium cells, we can get closer to understanding the biochemical and morphological changes occurring in mammalian org… Show more

“…SERPINB2 , also called plasminogen activator inhibitor type 2 [ 30 ], is one of the most upregulated proteins after cellular stress [ 31 ]. Decreased expression of this gene was also noted during culture of porcine OECs [ 6 ], while up-regulation was demonstrated upon in vitro culture of porcine granulosa cells [ 22 ].…”

“…Recently, it was observed that oviductal tissue, including epithelium, may be cultured in vitro for short and long-term periods [ 4 ]. In oviductal epithelial cell (OEC) in vitro culture, cells may change their morphology and biochemical properties [ 5 , 6 ]. The biochemical and molecular changes involve modifications of gene and protein expression profiles that may regulate gamete-OEC interactions [ 2 ].…”

“…Expression of oocyte and CC genes can be altered by changes in their cell cycle and metabolism or induction of apoptosis [36]. Several pro-and anti-apoptotic genes, such as BCLAF1 and XAF1, have been already identified that play an important role in the follicle's survival, atresia, and apoptosis [37,38].…”

“…Various correlations and communication paths between the granulosa cells (GCs) surrounding the oocyte and the ovum, as well as between GCs and oviduct epithelial cells (OECs) (35), indicate that it is the intercellular interactions that might be responsible for the developmental competence of COCs. This in turn could result in the ability to fertilize and produce offspring.…”
