“…As a result, the PD&PSLC sample is realized. 11,17 To improve the light transmittance of the sample in the absence of an electric field, the liquid crystalline monomer C6M was introduced into the system. The aim was to construct a mesogenic polymer network in the CLC droplets to stabilize the homogenous orientation of the CLC molecules and realize a coexistent system of PD&PSCLCs.…”

“…[7][8][9][10] Polymer/LC composites can be classified into polymer-dispersed LCs (PDLCs) and polymer-stabilized LCs (PSLCs) according to the binary phase microstructure between the LC phase and the polymer phase. 11 In general, PDLCs are composed of a continuous polymer phase and an LC phase dispersing in the former, while PSLCs consist of a continuous LC phase and a liquid crystalline polymer network dispersing in the LC host. [12][13][14] After the phase separation, the LC molecules in the PDLCs usually align randomly, because the isotropic monomers and the phase separation process disturb the arrangement of the LCs.…”

“…Shen et al explored the potential use of LCENs as a novel stabilising phase for polymer-stabilised liquid crystals (PSLCs) [120,123,124]. In their work, PSLCs were fabricated through photopolymerisation a phenyl benzoate-based LCEN in LC solvents.…”

“…Epoxy resins with LC structures are able to be prepared through cationic polymerization, which does not suffer from oxygen inhibition. Moreover, epoxy LCs have low shrinkage before and after polymerization. , The epoxy resins show high mechanical strength , and heat resistance. Despite these advantages, epoxy resin films with LC structures have been rarely reported. , This is mainly caused by the low polymerization rate of epoxy monomers. For instance, Shen et al reported epoxy-based polymer-stabilized liquid crystals prepared by the photoinitiated cationic polymerization for 2 h, which limits its industrial production. It is thus desirable to explore polymerizable systems with high polymerization rates for the facile fabrication of LC epoxy resins.…”
