Catecholate complexes of zirconium: synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and polymerization studies

Abstract: Varieties of new catecholate complexes containing zirconium were synthesized in high yields and purity. These derivatives are potent initiators for the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of rac-lactide, L-lactide, ε-caprolactone, δ-valerolactone, rac-βbutyrolactone, ethylene and propylene. The number-average molecular weights of the resulting polymers are slightly higher than the theoretical molecular weight and they have controlled molecular weight distributions. The isopropoxide moiety in these complexes is r… Show more

“…Biological activity of zirconium mixed ligand complexes were tested against various pathogenic microorganisms [11][12][13][14]. Mixed ligand complexes of Zr(IV) have been extensively used as a catalyst in various polymerization reactions [15][16][17][18][19]. The metal organic framework of Zr(IV) complexes acts as a precursor for the development of ZrO 2 and ZrS 2 .…”
