Abstract:The metalloradical activation of o-aryl aldehydes with cobalt(II) porphyrin complexes as catalysts produces cobalt(III)-carbene radical intermediates, providing a novel and powerful strategy for the synthesis of medium-sized ring structures. Herein we make use of the intrinsic radical-type reactivity of cobalt(III)-carbene radical intermediates in the [CoII(TPP)]-catalyzed (TPP = tetraphenylporphyrin) synthesis of two types of 8 membered ring compounds; novel dibenzocyclooctenes and uniq… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
