Catalytic performance of binary and ternary oxovanadium complexes of dipyridinyl-urea in (ep)oxidation of cis-cyclooctene and 1-octene

Abstract: Two novel ternary and binary mono-oxovanadium(IV) complexes of acetylacetonate (ac) and 1,3-dipyridin-2-yl-urea are synthesized, as VO(acac)(L) (1:1) and VO(L) 2 (1:2). They are characterized by various physico-chemical spectroscopic tools. The formation constants K f are calculated from the spectrophotometric measurements. The catalytic potential of VO(acac)(L) and VO(L) 2 has been examined in the (ep)oxidation of alkenes (cis-cyclooctene and 1-octene) by an aqueous hydrogen peroxide, H 2 O 2 , and tert-butyl… Show more

“…For CrAL1, its stoichiometry was determined within two various methods spectrophotometrically; first is the continuous-variations method and second is the mole-ratio method. The obtained results showed that the stoichiometry of CrLA1 is 1 : 1 [22,26]. The formation constants (K f ) of CrLA2 and CrLA3 are reported and presented elsewhere [17,18].…”

“…The obtained slurry was filtered on celite, and the filtrate was diluted by acetonitrile and injected to GC instrument. The percentage of selective conversion of benzyl alcohol to BA was calculated by the standard calibration curves [22]. Agelient 5890A 19091J-413: 325 °C as GC is computerized and attached with FID (flame ionization detector) and an HP-5 capillary column (phenyl methyl siloxan 30 m × 320 μm × 0.25 μm).…”

“…MoO 2 L2 is highly soluble in water compared to MoO 2 L1, which probably improved its catalytic potential in the (ep)oxidation of 1,2‐cyclooctene, benzyl alcohol and thiophene more than that MoO 2 L1, especially with the more polar oxidant, e.g. H 2 O 2 in the aqueous media …”
