Catalytic Ozonation of Cinnamaldehyde to Benzaldehyde over Ca(OH)2

Abstract: In this study, the ozonation of cinnamaldehyde to benzaldehyde catalyzed by Ca(OH)2 was studied by using the bubbling reactor with in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectrum (DRIFTS) and Density Function Theory (DFT). After the preparation, characterization, and catalytic activity evaluation of Ca(OH)2, the data showed that specific surface area, average pore diameter, and pore volume of Ca(OH)2 had a 1.77‐, 1.44‐, and 3.06‐fold larger than those of CaO, respectively. Compared with CaO cat… Show more

“…Ca(OH) 2 has many applications in biomedical, [6,7] dental traumatology, [8,9] and Portland cement production [10] . In the ozonation of cinnamaldehyde to benzaldehyde Ca(OH) 2 is also used as a catalyst [11] . Nitrates are also useful in many application due its low price, great heat capacity, low melting point and, moderate density that implies splendid energy storing capability.…”
