Catalytic growth of 0.4 nm single‐walled carbon nanotubes aligned inside porous zeolite crystals

Abstract: We report our recent study on processes of decomposition of tripropylamine (TPA) molecules in the channels of AlPO 4 -5 (AFI) and Co-incorporated AlPO 4 -5 (CoAPO-5) zeolite crystals, by means of Fourier transform Infrared (FTIR) spectra and thermogravimetry (TG) techniques. In comparison with pure AlPO 4 -5 crystals, the carbonization temperature of TPA molecules inside the channels of Co-AFI crystals is notably decreased; indicating that Co atoms incorporated in the AFI framework plays an important catalyst … Show more

“…Figure A represents the Raman spectrum of SWCNTs@AlPO‐5 film prior to etching, where the radial breathing mode (RBM) of SWCNTs@AlPO‐5 at 508 and 550 cm −1 is assigned to the semiconducting (4, 2) and (5, 0) SWCNTs . The relative ratio of the RBM to G ‐band, namely I RBM /I G values range between 0.1 and 4 for different carbon nanotube . In this work, the intensity of RBM bands at 534 cm −1 and the line width of the G ‐band in 1599 cm −1 was 0.19, indicating TrPA was well carbonized into SWCNT inside the AIPO‐5 channel.…”

“…The carbonization temperature of TPA molecules inside the channels of Co-AFI crystals is notably decreased from that required in the pure material, demonstrating the catalytic role of the Co atoms, and their presence assists the formation of 0.4 nm SWNTs in the channels, which is conferred by a significant decrease in the formation energy for these nanotubes. 156 HY was used as the template material for the preparation of an ordered microporous carbon containing an amorphous carbon core and a graphitic carbon shell. The electrochemical properties of Pt supported on the carbon samples were examined and compared with a commercial catalyst.…”

“…In our previous works, we reported 0.4 nm SWNTs accommodated in the nanochannels of AlPO 4 -5 zeolite single crystals [9,[18][19][20][21][22]. There are a few different types of zeolite crystals with different specific porous structures.…”
