Catalytic and conductivity studies in two dimensional coordination polymers built with a thiazole based ligand

Abstract: 2018) Catalytic and conductivity studies in two dimensional coordination polymers built with a thiazole based ligand. Polyhedron, 150. pp. 21-27. AbstractThe employment of the commercial availiable organic ligand 2-mercapto-4-methyl-5-thiazoleacetic acid (H2L) in Zn and Cd chemistry yields two-dimensional (2D) coordation polymers (CPs) with pseudopolymorphic character. Thermal, catalytic and conductivity studies are discussed.

“…To investigate the thermal stability of Bi-MMTAA, simultaneous TGA and DSC were carried out. As shown in Figure c, Bi-MMTAA is thermally stable up to 200 °C, and a mass loss of 43.46% occurs between 200 and 470 °C, which is mainly due to the decomposition of MMTAA . A sharp mass loss at 471–482 °C (16.23%) was observed due to the detachment of the benzene ring linked to Bi .…”

“…As shown in Figure 2c, Bi-MMTAA is thermally stable up to 200 °C, and a mass loss of 43.46% occurs between 200 and 470 °C, which is mainly due to the decomposition of MMTAA. 27 A sharp mass loss at 471−482 °C (16.23%) was observed due to the detachment of the benzene ring linked to Bi. 28 At 483 °C, the mass loss stops with the final product of Bi 2 S 3 , and the remaining mass percentage (40.31%) is close to the theoretical value of 38.80%.…”

“…Considering that zinc( ii ) coordination compounds can catalyze the Knoevenagel condensation reaction, 24–26,40,50–53 the CPs 1–5 were tested as heterogeneous catalysts in this type of organic transformations. Hence, model Zn-catalyzed reactions were performed at 25 °C in methanol, wherein benzaldehyde was condensed with propanedinitrile to give a 2-benzylidenemalononitrile product (Scheme 3, Table 3).…”

“…10,48,49 A boosted luminescence of 1-5 in comparison with that of H 4 dpa or H 4 dia is possibly associated to the coordination of ligands to zinc(II) centers, as observed in related systems. 10,48,49 Catalytic studies Considering that zinc(II) coordination compounds can catalyze the Knoevenagel condensation reaction, [24][25][26]40,[50][51][52][53] the CPs 1-5 were tested as heterogeneous catalysts in this type of organic transformations.
