Cast Iron And Mineral Cast Applied For Machine Tool Bed - Dynamic Behavior Analysis

Abstract: Cast iron and mineral cast are the materials most often used in the machine structural elements design (bodies, housings, machine tools beds etc.). The materials significantly differ in physical and mechanical properties. The ability to suppress vibration is one of the most important factors determining the dynamic properties of the machine and has a significant impact on the machining capabilities of a machine tool. Recent research and development trends show that there is a clear tendency to move away from t… Show more

“…Static and dynamic analyses on the above beds confirmed that the application of cast iron along with mineral cast material has a greater influence on both static and dynamics properties of machine tool structures. 5 In the hybrid design, an improvement of 3.2–12.8% in the frequency is observed. Hybrid materials were also used for polymer concrete machine tool bed consisting of welded steel structure faces and polymer concrete core.…”

“…There are literatures, such as Guo Lina [7], who optimized the reinforcement layout of the moving beam of gantry machining center, and Prabhu Raja Venugopal in 2019 [8], who used granite as base material with various steel bar reinforcement to improve the tool's static and dynamic properties. N. Kępczak and colleagues, in 2015 [9], used a combination of gray cast iron and mineral composite to make a machine bed and the result showed a significant increase in the dynamic and static strength of the tool. Jung Do Suh et al [10], who tried to reconcile the poor damping properties of metal machine tool that led to strong vibration and impacted on machining precision, installed some auxiliary dampers, such as Lanchester power absorber, to increase its shock absorbance capacity; however, a careful study found that the effect of such use was only effective to a specific range of frequencies and restricted its application.…”
