Abstract:Intravenous thrombolysis can be administered to appropriate patients with suspected acute ischemic strokes who are on intravenous heparin infusions after its rapid reversal with protamine sulfate. Several case reports suggest the safety of tissue-type plasminogen activator, or alteplase, in these scenarios.
