Abstract: A 33-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of fever and increasing pain in the right leg.The patient had been well until 11 days earlier, when a sore throat developed while he was attending a meeting in Texas. No other symptoms occurred, and he was aware of only low-grade fever. During the next week the sore throat gradually improved.
