Carving out parameter space in type-II two Higgs doublets model

Updated LHC data on the new 126 GeV boson during the 7 and 8 TeV runnings strengthen the standard model Higgs boson interpretation further. Through global χ 2 fit analysis, we investigate whether the new particle could be one of the scalar particles in two Higgs doublet models. Four types of the model (I, II, X and Y) are comprehensively studied. Considering the recent analysis on the spin-parity of the new boson, we take two scenarios: it is either the lighter CP-even one or the heavier CP-even one. It is found that the current LHC Higgs data constrain the model quite strongly. Only narrow region along the decoupling line and a separate small island are allowed in Type II, X, and Y. Type I is exceptional with much larger allowed space. We also find that the current data are compatible with the possibility that the light Higgs boson h 0 is hidden in the mass window of 90-100 GeV.

Higgs and dark matter physics in the type-II two-Higgs-doublet model inspired by E 6 GUT

Abstract:We study Higgs and dark matter physics in the type-II two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) with an extra U(1) H gauge symmetry, inspired by the E 6 grand unified theory (GUT). From the viewpoint of the bottom-up approach, the additional U(1) H gauge symmetry plays a crucial role in avoiding the tree-level flavor changing neutral currents mediated by neutral Higgs bosons in general 2HDMs. In the model with U(1) H gauge symmetry, which has Type-II Yukawa couplings, we have to introduce additional chiral fermions that are charged under the U(1) H gauge symmetry as well as under the StandardModel (SM) gauge symmetry in order to cancel chiral gauge anomalies. For the U(1) H charge assignment and the extra matters, we adopt the ones inspired by the E 6 GUT: the extra quark-like and lepton-like fermions with the non-trivial U(1) H charges. We discuss their contributions to the physical observables, such as the measurements of Higgs physics and electro-weak interactions, and investigate the consistency with the experimental results. Furthermore, we could find extra neutral particles like the SM neutrinos after the electro-weak symmetry breaking, and they could be stable, because of the remnant symmetry after U(1) H symmetry breaking. We also discuss the thermal relic density and the (in)direct-detections of this dark matter candidate.

Exploring top quark FCNC within 2HDM type III in association with flavor physics

Abstract:The top quark flavor changing neutral current (FCNC) process is an excellent probe to search for new physics in top sector since the Standard Model expectation is extremely suppressed. We explore Higgs-mediated top quark FCNC, focusing on H-tc Yukawa coupling λ ct within the general two Higgs doublet model. After electroweak symmetry breaking the top quark FCNC couplings are included in the charged Higgs Yukawa sector so that they contribute to various processes in flavor physics. To probe λ ct , we study anomalous single top production and the same sign top pair production at the LHC in association with flavor physics from the tree-level processes B → D ( * ) τ ν, B → τ ν as well as from the loop-level processes B d → X s γ, B d,s − B d,s mixing. We perform combined analysis of all the constraints regarding the fine-tuning argument to fit the data and discuss future prospect. The recently updated measurements on B → D ( * ) τ ν still prefer large λ ct , but we show that the current bound on the same sign top pair production at the LHC gives the most significant upper bound on λ ct to be less than 10 ∼ 30 depending on neutral heavy Higgs masses. We also find that for the given upper bound on λ ct , B → D ( * ) τ ν put significant lower bound on H-τ -τ Yukawa coupling, and the bound is proportional to the charged Higgs mass.
