“…To justify that, we searched and found several studies listed in the literature that argument in favour of the use of the ultrasound DeltaCSA in the diagnosis of CTS. Ultrasound can be used to identify space-occupying lesions in and around the median nerve, confirm abnormalities in the median nerve (Kang, Jung, Yoon, Hahn, & Kim, 2009) that can be diagnostic of CTS, and help guide injections into the carpal tunnel (Lee, Park, Park, Lee, & Lim, 2014). More specifically, according to a controlled clinical trial by Leonard, Rangan, Doyle, and Taylor (2003) and a meta-analysis by Fowler, Gaughan, and Ilyas (2011), diagnostic ultrasonography can be utilized in detecting accurately the CTS.…”

“…The relationship between gout and CTS has been well documented [19,20]. Kang et al [20] reported that tophus deposition in the carpal tunnel can lead to CTS. In addition, imaging studies have shown the presence of tophi in the floor of the carpal tunnel, carpal bones, radiocarpal joint, and extensor tendons or tendon sheaths of the wrist [19].…”
