“…Material.-We examined and collected morphometric data on the dentition of all representatives of each megalosaurid genus sensu Carrano et al (2012) preserving teeth, i.e., Eustreptospondylus oxoniensis (Walker 1964), Magnosaurus nethercombensis (Huene 1923), Afrovenator abakensis (Sereno et al 1994), Dubreuillosaurus valesdunensis (Allain 2002), Duriavenator hesperis (Waldman 1974), Megalosaurus bucklandii (Mantell 1827), Torvosaurus tanneri (Galton and Jensen 1979), and the newly named Torvosaurus gurneyi (Hendrickx and Mateus 2014b; see SOM 6 in Supplementary Online Material available at http://app.pan.pl/SOM/app60-Hendrickx_etal_SOM.pdf).…”

“…In the years following the description of the syntype series, material from a range of Middle Jurassic–Lower Cretaceous localities in England and northern France was unjustifiably referred to M. bucklandii , reaching an acme in Phillips (1871). Subsequently, the species was restricted to material from the type horizon, the Stonesfield Slate, by von Huene (1923). This material consists of numerous unassociated elements belonging to large theropods and representing much of the skeleton (Buckland 1824; Phillips 1871).…”

“…It does not appear to be an informative specimen and any suggested identification is speculative. Huene (1923) therefore recognized that referral of Thecocoelurus daviesi to Thecospondylus was unsatisfactory and proposed the new genus Thecocoelurus. We follow Huene (1923) Gauthier, 1986Coelurosauria Huene, 1914Oviraptorosauria Barsbold, 1976 Linnean binomial: Thecocoelurus daviesi (Seeley, 1888) Holotype.…”
