Caregivers’ Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice towards Pressure Injuries in Spinal Cord Injury at Rehabilitation Center in Bangladesh

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine caregivers’ knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) on the prevention and care of pressure injuries (PIs) in individuals with spinal cord injury. A quantitative cross-sectional study with descriptive correlation design was used to implement a modified semistructured questionnaire using a convenient sampling method. McDonald’s standard of learning outcome measurement criteria was used to categorize caregivers’ KAP. A Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) w… Show more

“…A descriptive study design was used on the healthcare workers of the hospital. Te sample size was calculated by using the z 2 pq/L 2 formula where z = tabulated value in the 95% level of signifcance (1.96), p = prevalence rate = 52%, q = 1 − p = 1-52/ 100 = 0.48, L = allowable error = 10% = 10/100 = 0.1 the sample size found to be was 96 [11][12][13]. Te study used a technique called purposive sampling.…”

“…As shown in Table 1, factors such as level of education, 22,23,25 age, 18,23 occupation, 23 informed about PUs, 14 attitude, 27 and practice 27 have a significant positive relationship with caregivers' knowledge related to the prevention of PUs. Knowledge had a significant negative relationship with age 22,24 .…”
