Despite the changing nature of research dissemination, however, it is still important to recognize the undoubted value of established knowledge dissemination routes (that being the peer-reviewed publication).

“…In the nursing field, bibliometric indicators are a fundamental tool to identify the number and distribution of publications, authorship, co‐authorship, and most cited articles (Haddad, ; Hunt, Jackson, Watson, & Cleary, ). These performance analyses and studies of the development of the journals of different countries (Blazun Vosner, Kokol, Bobek, Zeleznik, & Zavrsnik, ; Dubner, ; Fu & Ho, ; Smith & Watson, ; Tsay & Shu, ) represent an added value for journals. Accordingly, it is worth mentioning that there are no studies in the international nursing field that compare these bibliometric indicators of the most important international journals with the highest impact factor that address the generic nursing content.…”

This manuscript performs a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production of the process of having an intestinal stoma from the perspective of the qualitative research developed in different countries (Dubner, 2009;Fu & Ho, 2015;Smith & Watson, 2016;Tsay & Shu, 2011;Vosner, Kokol, Bobek, Zeleznik, & Zavrsnik, 2016).…”

“…Other ways, in the early days of the internet and emails were to list latest publications as a signature to emails and to use whatever online facilities existed to make published work more visible. These approaches and the rise in social media over the past decade have led to ever more effective ways of promoting your publications (Smith & Watson, ). Taking Twitter ® as an example, the ease with which a link to your latest publication can be sent out to your followers with an apposite quote, and perhaps a picture, was unimaginable when we three authors set out on our academic careers.…”
