“…PI based on 4,4 -(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (1.00 mol), 9,9-bis(4 -aminophenyl)fluorene (0.75 mol) and 4,4 -(hexafluoroisopropylidene)dianiline (0.25 mol) was synthesized by one-step polycyclization in m-cresol medium [21]. The reaction proceeds at 180 • C for 5 h under Ar.…”

“…The growth of the polymer chain (polyamic acid formation) and imidation take place almost simultaneously, which permits the attainment of fully imidized polyimides in a onepot process. [20,21] All of the current polynaphthalimides were prepared by this method, with m-cresol as the solvent, heating initially at 80 8C and then at about 180 8C to assure a complete imidation. The desired proportion of sulfonic groups in the copolyimides could be conveniently controlled by adjusting the ratio of sulfonated to non-sulfonated diamines.…”

“…It is well known that DA NTCA exhibits low reactivity and does not form high-molecular-weight polyimides by common two-and one-step procedures in organic solvents (N,N-dimethylformamide (DMFA), N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAA), N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), nitrobenzene, m-cresol) in the absence of any catalyst even at temperatures as high as 200 8C (Table 1, entries 14, 16). [9] Thus, the reaction of such monomers is commonly carried out at 180-220 8C and in the presence of carboxylic acid as a catalyst (Table 1, entries 15, 17). The unique feature of our approach is the synthesis of polyimides in ILs as reaction media.…”
