“…Findings have shown that patients with risk factors cannot easily tolerate the probable side effects related to CO 2 insufflation [10][11][12][13][14][15]. Recent studies advocate heated gas usage for the prevention of probable hypothermia caused by routine CO 2 pneumoperitoneum [16][17][18].…”

“…The section of the questionnaire concerning fear prior to planned cholecystectomy showed that patients burdened with cardiovascular diseases and a history of cardiosurgical opera-system focus primarily on the perioperative period, as well as on the effect of the pneumoperitoneum on cardiac function (12). Larsen and co-authors (13) showed similar results in a randomized study concerning the development of the pneumoperitoneum, its duration, and subsequent desufflation in the Trendelenburg and anti-Trendelenburg positions.…”

“…Risk factors evaluated included pharmacological, physiological and operative variables. 4,6,8,12,[15][16][17] Two studies demonstrated a significant association between vecuronium and intraoperative bradycardia in laparoscopic surgery and in addition showed a trend toward vecuronium being significantly associated with episodes of asystole; however, they were insufficiently powered. 8,16 This is consistent with previous literature on vecuronium increasing vagal tone.…”
