Cardiac troponin-T and CK-MB (mass) levels in cardiac and non cardiac disease

Abstract: Serum cardiac troponin T (cTnl') and CKMB (mass) were analysed in three groups of patients. The first group (n=32) were patients with acute coronary syndromes including myocardial infarction. The second group (n=35)were patients with hypertension. The third group (n=24) were patients who had succumbed to non cardiac diseases. In all 3 groups, cardiac troponin T was elevated when compared with controls (p<0.001). However, CKMB elevation was not significant in all groups. CKMB levels correlated well with troponi… Show more

“…Contrary to others opinion that cTnT may be more sensitive to detect minor infarction which could not be detected by CK-MB (20,21), our study reveals only 22% cTnT positive cases while it was over 46% (22) and 90 % (23) in other studies; Although cTn-T positive cases had higher CK-MB (Table 3). The reason for only 22 % positive cTnT in our study is difficult to explain.…”

“…The increase of cardiac Troponin T was 20 times higher than the normal blood donors in AMI at the time of admission whereas that of CKMB was around two and half times in comparison to normal blood donors (17). Our values of CTnT are in agreement with a very recent study (18).…”

“…The detection limit of the chronoamperometric method was determined as 13 ng mL −1 using the formula DL = 2×RMSD/S. The CK-MB levels can increase from (4±2) ng mL −1 to values as high as 400 ng mL −1 as a consequence of severe myocardial injury [2, 11]. Although this DL is higher than the CK-MB levels in healthy individuals, the sensor could be used to quantify CK-MB in pathological samples.…”

“…The concentrations of these proteins in blood depend on the severity of AMI and the delay time after the onset of AMI [2, 3, 10, 11]. The existing POCT devices for cardiac proteins generally employ immunochromatographic separation and spectrophotometric or spectrofluorometric detection systems [12, 13].…”
