Cardiac troponin I: evaluation of a biomarker for the diagnosis of heart disease in the dog

Abstract: Measurement of blood cTnl levels may be a useful aid in the diagnosis of dogs with suspected heart disease and in indicating the severity of heart failure.

Elevated levels are detectable in the blood within four hours of cardiac damage and reach a peak value within 12 to 24 hours, and then slowly decline over the next five to 20 days, depending on the degree of initial damage (30,31,33).
