“…Patients with previously treated Hodgkin disease have been reported to carry a 5-fold excess risk of a second cancer during 15 years of followup. 11,19 However, within the hematopoietic malignancy group in our study, only 1 recipient developed new malignancy post-Tx, indicating a low recurrence rate of 13%. In contrast, fatal recurrence developed in all recipients with cardiac sarcoma pre-Tx.…”

[6][7][8][9][10][11][12] Hence, our aim was to investigate the influence of pre-Tx malignancy on post-Tx recurrence and long-term survival, focusing on preoperative cancer-free intervals in lung and heart Tx recipients.…”

“…All of the aforementioned experiences suggest that carefully selected patients with "cured malignancies" could benefit from HT and have a successful outcome. [3][4][5][6][7][8] Our single experience is in accordance with this proposition and we believe that a satisfactory outcome of HT can be expected in CLL patients with a low-to-intermediate risk.…”

“…A survey of transplantation centers registered with the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation identified 34 patients with a history of lymphoma before cardiac transplantation. 28 Sixteen patients had a previous diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma. The median disease-free interval before transplantation was 15 years.…”
