Abstract:Professional marathoners demonstrate abnormal rises in cardiac biomarkers and a spectrum of alterations in a 12-lead ECG (electrocardiogram). Such alterations are likely the consequence of athletic conditioning and represent another potential component of the athletic heart syndrome.
