Cardiac Arrhythmias in Patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) on Hemodialysis; Recent Update and Brief Literature Review

Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, and causes more than one millions deaths annually in the United States alone. Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are predisposed to different types of heart rhythm abnormalities including but not limited to atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation. Both cardiovascular diseases and chronic kidney disease (CKD) may cause various variations in the cardiovascular system, auton… Show more

“…Repolarization abnormalities play a fundamental role in the genesis of arrhythmic events and the risk increases in patients at ESRD with imbalance in 41 . In this work, two previously reported potassium estimators, 14 and 15 , four warping-based ECG-derived biomarkers for monitoring proposed in Ramírez et al 17 , , , , , and the here proposed modified versions and were tested as bloodless indices for variations in ESRD-HD patients computed from standard leads as well as in a PCA-derived lead.…”

In this work, two previously reported potassium estimators, T w 14 and T S/A 15 , four warping-based ECG-derived biomarkers for [K + ] monitoring proposed in Ramírez et al 17 The signed biomarker d w followed a similar time-course as the unsigned d u w during the whole monitoring period, showing a similar distribution in Fig.…”

“…In the middle panel (j), the width and amplitude of the T wave are shown to increase with increasing RR, which is accompanied by changes in the T wave shape. [10], [35]- [39]. The availability of non-invasive tools to monitor serum [K + ] and [Ca 2+ ] concentrations, particularly in ESRD patients, might have a significant impact on clinical practice.…”

“…Имеются единичные сообщения и одноцентровые исследования об имплантации этих устройств у пациентов с ХБП, как альтернативы антикоагулянтной терапии [30,31]. В настоящее время идет рандомизированное исследование Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion vs. Usual Care in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation and Severe Chronic Kidney Disease (WatchAFIB), которое, возможно, позволит уточнить показания к использованию этих устройств в этой группе пациентов [32].…”
