“…Secretory carcinoma of the breast has been well described in the surgical pathology literature and, although initially thought to be a tumor of children and adolescent females, 3,9 has been shown to occur in all age groups in females and includes reports of occurrence in boys and young adult males. The median age of occurrence in one of the most comprehensive studies of this lesion, an Armed Forces Institute of Pathology study of 19 patients, was 25 years of age.…”

“…We have seen no example of cancer of the adolescent female breast. This is rare, but Close and Maximov (1965) give a good review of the literature and point out that Haagensen (1956) accepted 6 reported cases of breast cancer occurring in girls under the age of 20. The relevant cases included girls aged 10, 11, 12, and 14 years.…”

“…Haagensen added z cases aged 3 and 15 years and in addition Puente and Garciga Ramirez (1951) have described a further case in a patient aged 11. Close and Maximov (1965) also cite cases from the literature of cancer of the male breast in boys and add 2 further cases in girls aged 14 and 17 years. They emphasize that lumps in the breast should always be removed and subjected to histological examination whatever the age of the patient.…”

“…Haagensen (1 965) reviewed cases of breast carcinoma below 20 years of age reported up to 1955 and concluded that below 20 years the condition is a clinical curiosity. Close and Maximow (1965) collected only 9 cases of breast carcinoma below the age of 20 from the literature, while McDivitt et al (1967) found 7 cases of cancer of the breast in children between 3 and 15 years. He concluded that malignant tumours of the breast in children behave in a much less aggressive fashion and noted a 100 per cent 5-year survival.…”
