“…Nan and co-workers reported the use of a hybrid nanosensor for the detection of Fe 3+ based on a simple and fast spectrofluorimetric analysis. 130 They fabricated this sensor using ZnO/CdS nanoparticles modified with carbon nanoparticles. The sensing is based on the strong fluorescence quenching of the nanoparticles by the Fe 3+ ion due to the strong interaction between them and iron ions.…”

“…Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have attracted much attention from researchers owing to their unique luminescence properties, outstanding biocompatibility and great water solubility. [4][5][6] CQDs are regarded as potential nanomaterials for molecular sensing and biomedical applications, 7 and CQDsbased fluorescence probes have been successfully applied for the detection of metal ions, [8][9][10][11][12] amino acids, 13 nucleic acids [14][15][16] and glucose. 17 Many CQDs-based fluorescence probes have been proposed for the sensitive detection [18][19][20][21] of metal ions such as, Ag + , Hg 2+ , Cu 2+ , Cr 3+ and Mn 2+ , demonstrating the feasibility and practicality of these probes for metal ion detection in the environment and food.…”
