Carbon nanofiber activated by molybdenum disulfide as an effective binder‐free composite anode for highly reversible lithium storage

Abstract: Summary Carbon nanofiber film (CNF) as anode material for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) draws attention for its excellent cyclic stability, but its practical application is limited due to low specific capacity. Considering the advantages of pure CNF and MoS2, a flexible film which CNF covered by MoS2 (MoS2/CNF) is successfully produced and evaluated as a binder‐free electrode for LIBs without mixing with carbon black and polymer binder. MoS2 nanoflakes (8.91 wt% of the composite sample) covering on CNF (MoS2/CN… Show more

“…Bulk MoS 2 nanoflowers were hydrothermally synthesized on carbon nanofiber (CNF) films adapting a reported procedure. 4 SEM images show that MoS 2 nanoflowers vertically grow on carbon nanofibers using the nanofiber surface as a nucleation site (Fig. S1 in ESI†).…”

“…MoS 2 is well-known for various applications including energy storage and catalysis. 4,5 Like typical layered materials the individual sheets of MoS 2 are stacked via weak van der Waals interactions. Hence, it is possible to change its bandgap through exfoliation which in turn can increase its light absorption in the visible region.…”

“…CNTs are nanotubes formed by curling flake graphite and have excellent thermal conductivity, mechanical properties, and lubrication properties [17,18]. The hollow structure allows guest molecules to enter their molecules to form nano-capsules, improving the performance of CNTs themselves [19,20]. To better lubricate the grinding area, our research group proposed to fill lubricant dibutyl phosphite (T304) into CNTs to prepare CNTs@T304 nano-capsules.…”
