Carbon Dots@Ti3C2Tx-MXene 0D/2D Hybrid Composites toward High-Performance Lubricating Additives under Varying Temperatures

Junhai Wang,
Yu Kan,
Tingting Yan
et al.

Abstract: Progress in nanolubricant additive is crucial to pursuit of energy saving and sustainable development. For enhancing lubrication efficiency of pentaerythritol ester (PETE) oil, we synthesized zerodimensional/two-dimensional (0D/2D) carbon dots(CD)@Ti 3 C 2 T x -MXene hybrid composites using a facial hydrothermal method, which gave full play to interlayer shear mechanism of Ti 3 C 2 T x -MXene, repair effect of carbon dots and their potential synergy. The composites were added to PETE as lubricating additives, … Show more

“…Of course, various types of additives in the lubricating system have distinct interaction forces on the interfacial behavior, such as the van der Waals force, physical and/or chemical adsorption, coordination, or hydrogen bonding. Among them, the common materials mainly include nanomaterials, hybrid materials, , gel, functional modification materials, , covalent/metal–organic framework materials, , ionic liquids (ILs) , , deep eutectic solvent, etc. Based on highly designable molecular structures and tunable properties characteristic, highly polar ILs are superior in competitive adsorption for polyethylene glycol base systems, laying the foundation for the lubricating system with high-performance, multifunctional properties, and service stability .…”
