“…Various incisions involving transaxillary, axillo‐breast, postauricular facelift, and transoral approaches have been developed to avoid a visible scar in the anterior part of the neck . In our institution, we have performed endoscopic and robotic thyroidectomy using gasless unilateral axillary and axillo‐breast approaches, postauricular facelift, and transoral approaches since 2005 …”

“…[2][3][4][5] In our institution, we have performed endoscopic and robotic thyroidectomy using gasless unilateral axillary and axillo-breast approaches, postauricular facelift, and transoral approaches since 2005. [6][7][8][9][10][11] The use of robotic thyroidectomy with a remote-access approach is controversial because of its high cost and long operative times. 12 However, it has some advantages over conventional trans-cervical thyroidectomy especially in terms of cosmetic satisfaction and postoperative voice outcomes.…”

“…1 As the authors cite, the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) first reported by Anuwong has found some success and is rapidly gaining popularity among high-volume endocrine surgeons seeking the complete absence of cutaneous incisions. 1 As the authors cite, the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) first reported by Anuwong has found some success and is rapidly gaining popularity among high-volume endocrine surgeons seeking the complete absence of cutaneous incisions.…”

“…We would like to thank Dr Russell and colleagues for their interest in, and kind comments on, our article entitled "Carbon Dioxide Embolism during Transoral Robotic Thyroidectomy: A Case Report." 1 As they point out, volatile anesthetic agents such as sevoflurane tend to lengthen the duration of carbon dioxide embolism compared to intravenous propofol infusion in laparoscopic hepatectomy. 2 A certain number of gas bubbles in the venous system can usually be absorbed in the pulmonary circulation.…”
