Abstract:A molecular editing strategy to construct quinoxalinones from chromones and benzimidazolylidene N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) was developed. The C2 atoms of the chromones were incorporated into the quinoxalinones via ring expansion of the NHCs.
