et al.

Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive age‐related neurodegenerative brain disorder, which leads to loss of memory and other cognitive dysfunction. The underlying mechanisms of AD pathogenesis are very complex and still not fully explored. Cholinergic neuronal loss, accumulation of amyloid plaque, metal ions dyshomeostasis, tau hyperphosphorylation, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction are major hallmarks of AD. The current treatment options for AD are acetylcholinesterase inhi… Show more

“…The lower inhibitory activity of pure compounds compared to the extract signifies the synergistic or additive involvement of other phytocompounds in the extracts for the anti-amyloidogenic property. Among the compounds identified by GC-MS (Figure S1), cis-9-Octadecenoic acid and carbamate derivative have been reported to modulate Aβ aggregation [61,62] and also possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities [63]. However, the literature on the effect of other compounds on Aβ aggregation is lacking.…”
