Show more

“…The polymorphic information content (PIC) values found in this study demonstrated that the microsatellites differentiated the evaluated quinoa materials (Table 4) and can be used for parental selection strategies for obtaining higher yield and identifying markers associated with characteristics of interest, within yield and saponin content, among others (Al-Naggar et al, 2017;Jarvis et al, 2017;Mestanza et al, 2017;Zhang et al, 2017).…”

“…For the ITS-plant genes, universal primers described by Varghese et al . (2003) were used, and for the psbA gene (Mestanza et al ., 2017) an alignment of sequences existing in databases was used. The alignment was performed with the program ClustalW and, subsequently, conserved regions of the sequence were identified and primers designed using the program Primer3 (Rozen and Skaletsky, 2000).…”

“…The selection and design of primers for gene amplification was performed as follows: for the AHAS genes, information generated by Mestanza et al (2015) was used, where each of the existing variants of the gene are described. For the ITS-plant genes, universal primers described by Varghese et al (2003) were used, and for the psbA gene (Mestanza et al, 2017) an alignment of sequences existing in databases was used. The alignment was performed with the program ClustalW and, subsequently, conserved regions of the sequence were identified and primers designed using the program Primer3 (Rozen and Skaletsky, 2000).…”
