“…The polyphenolic content of tropical fruits has shown to be dependent of species, cultivar, and tissue (Rinaldo et al, 2010). In the case of mamey sapote, composition can have high variation even among fruits of the same region, as showed by Gaona-García et al (2008), who after assessing ripe fruits from the southwest region of Morelos, Mexico, found values for TSS, L*, and sugar content within ranges of 18.7-30.2 ºBrix, 41.2-50.7, and 78.2-204.7 mg/g, respectively. In Mexico, the species is mainly cultivated in Yucatán, Guerrero, Chiapas, and Michoacán states (SAGARPA, 2010), but due to trees having been propagated mostly by sexual ungrafted means there is high genetic variability (Azurdia, 2006), and this fact might be the cause of differences in results of the present work in relation to others.…”
