Caracterização da região 3'-terminal do genoma de um isolado brasileiro do Southern bean mosaic virus

Abstract: O presente trabalho caracteriza a região 3'-terminal do genoma de um isolado do Southern bean mosaic virus encontrado no Estado de São Paulo (SBMV-SP). Show more

“…The sequence that starts at position 2173 is GGGGTCC, not GGGAGTCC, and the one starting at position 2217 is GAA instead of TAA. Together, the ORF2 sequence reported here and those previously described from the 5′ end (Espinha et al., 2004) and the 3′ end (Espinha et al., 2005) show that the SBMV SP genome is 4132 nt long (GenBank ). The 5′ end starts with an untranslated region with 92 nt and the first open reading frame (ORF1), starting at the first AUG at position 93 and ending at a UGA stop codon at position 536.…”

“…In Brazil, SBMV was first detected in bean plants in the Federal District region (Cupertino et al., 1982), and later in the States of São Paulo (Costa, 1987) and Paraná (Gasparin et al., 2005). Some molecular properties of the São Paulo isolate (SBMV SP ) were determined (Moreira and Gaspar, 2002), and the 5′ and 3′ termini were sequenced (Espinha et al., 2004, 2005). The SBMV SP coat protein sequence showed identity of nucleotides and amino acids of 91 and 93%, respectively, with the Arkansas isolate (SBMV ARK ) described in the USA (Lee and Anderson, 1998).…”
