Objective: To know the potential adverse reactions of analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs in individuals with chronic pain. Methods: An integrative review was conducted using the descriptors "chronic pain", "side effects and adverse drug reactions", "anti-inflammatory drugs" and "analgesics", accompanied by the Boolean operands AND and OR in the PubMed and Virtual Health Library databases. Results: The studies pointed out that women and the elderly are the most affected by chronic pain, moreover analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs the most used drugs in this condition, and that anti-inflammatory drugs account for numerous adverse reactions, especially those related to the gastrointestinal system and hepatotoxicity. Conclusion: It was evidenced that anti-inflammatory drugs were responsible for the main adverse drug reactions, including hepatotoxicity and gastrointestinal injury, especially in the elderly. As short term measures it is suggested the realization of awareness actions of professionals and patients regarding the proper management of pain, the maximum doses and the dangerous use of these drugs without medical indication and/or pharmaceutical guidance, in order to achieve a rational use of medicines.

O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar o conhecimento sobre a epidemiologia, as fontes de informação e as condutas higiênico sanitárias tomadas pelos indivíduos durante a pandemia de Covid-19. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo exploratório de abordagem quantitativa, não probabilístico e por conveniência. A coleta de dados foi realizada online via plataforma Google Formulários. O questionário adotado tinha 37 questões e foi do tipo estruturado não disfarçado. A amostra foi organizada em três grupos, de acordo com a resposta para a seguinte pergunta: “Teve Covid-19?” Sim, 11,4% (200); “não teve”, 59,6% (1.041), e “não sei”, com 29% (507). Ao todo, 1.748 (100%) indivíduos foram incluídos no estudo, sendo 11,4% (200) pertencentes ao grupo que teve Covid-19, 59,6% (1.041) ao que não teve, e 29% (507) ao grupo não sei, sendo o sexo feminino a maioria (64,5%). A idade variou de 18 a 66 anos, com média de 25,3±7,9 anos e faixa etária predominante de 18-22 anos (51,9%). Para 38%dos participantes o distanciamento social foi efetivo, 92% concordaram totalmente que idosos e pessoas com doença crônica são grupo de risco para Covid-19 e 74,7% afirmaram que os homens foram os mais afetados pela doença. Em conclusão, verificou-se que a população tinha conhecimento sobre a epidemiologia da Covid-19, acesso a fontes de informação e condutas higiênico-sanitárias.

The internet enables the search for several subject types, including health and drug utilization. These information are spread generally without reliability and scientific basis, that can encourage self-medication and indiscriminate medicine use. This was a cross-sectional study, carried out through application of tools that evaluated the quality of global health information and the specific content about analgesic drugs on 98 Brazilian websites. Among the most cited drugs on websites, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (83.67 %), acetaminophen (47.96 %) and opioids (47.96 %) stood out. All websites described pharmacological treatment options for pain, however, most websites did not mention any adverse reactions or contraindications for painkillers use. Information on opioid addiction and tolerance risk was present only in 18.37 % of websites. Considering all the indicators evaluated, no website was considered to be of good quality, even those with a quality certification seal. These results showed important shortcomings on health and drugs information published on internet, which can lead to analgesics inappropriate use, adverse effects and even intoxications events. This reinforces the need to control this information and to adopt minimum quality criteria for the websites, aiming to minimize health risks, drug irrational use and to contribute for lay public’s safety.
