The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the application of irrigation levels in the productivity and water use efficiency, in the soil and climatic conditions of the municipality of Colinas do Tocantins, located in the Mid-Northern region of the State of Tocantins. The cowpea cultivation system was submitted to the application of five irrigation blades, based on ET0-Reference Evapotranspiration: Blade 0% of ET0, Blade 50% of ET0, Blade 75% of ET0, Blade 100% of ET0 and Blade 125% of ET0 (B0, B50, B75, B100 and B125% of ET 0). The descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data, applying the 95% confidence interval to discriminate the differences between the treatments, since the replicates were constituted of 100 plants harvested at random within the plot for each treatment and no design method was performed. A significant effect of the different levels was found on all evaluated components, with the exception of the length of the pod, which did not differ in the irrigation levels. The increase in irrigation contributed to the increase of the results of the components that compete directly for higher productivity, such as number of pods per plant, weight of pods and number of seeds per pod. In these results, it was found that higher irrigation levels confer higher yields. Water-use efficiency-WUE behaved as per productivity trend, that is, it decreased with the reduction of irrigation levels.

Cowpea bean is an important legume in the Caribbean region of Colombia, for its contribution to the diet of its habitants and being an alternative income for small producers. Nevertheless, the yields obtained do not exceed 600 kg ha -1 , due to the unknown of the effect of cultural methods on the species, as in the different cultivars. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of different spacing and hydrogel on vegetative and reproductive characteristics of cowpea beans, cultivar Caupicor 50 in the department of Sucre of the Caribbean region of Colombia. A split-plot design was used, with three replications (blocks). Two distances between rows: 60 and 80 cm in the main plot, three spaces between plants: 20, 30, and 40 cm in the subplot, and hydrogel: 0 and 5 g / plant in the sub-sub plot were combined. The variables evaluated were: plant height, leaf area, leaf area index, crop growth rate, number of pods per plant, pod length, number of seeds per pod, the weight of one hundred seed, and seed yield/ha. The highest yield, 2,027 kg ha -1 , was estimated with 20 cm between plants and 60 cm between rows (83,333 plants ha -1) and was associated with greater leaf area, leaf area index and crop growth rate, and a lower number of pods per plant, pod length and weight of one hundred seeds.

O feijão-caupi é uma Fabacea amplamente distribuída no mundo. Foi objetivo deste trabalho, estimar parâmetros genéticos na seleção de cultivares de feijão-caupi, sob estresse hídrico, no município de Vitória da Conquista, BA, em cultivo protegido. Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro cultivares (BRS Pujante, BRS Guariba, BRS Marataoã, BRS Xique-xique), submetidas a quatro níveis de irrigação (40, 60, 80 e 100%, que foi a testemunha) com delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. As variáveis analisadas foram comprimento de vagem (CVag), número de vagem por planta (NVP), número de grãos por vagem (NGV), massa de cem grãos (MCG) e produtividade (PROD). Somente CVag e NGV diferiram entre as cultivares, sendo estimadas para estas, coeficientes de variação genotípica (CVg), fenotípica (CVf), ambiental (CVa), relação CVg/CVa, herdabilidade (h2) e ganho genético (GA%). As estimativas de CVa foram baixas, CVf foi média e h2 e GA%, foram altas. Em relação às correlações, CVag apresentou correlações fenotípicas e genotípicas positivas fracas e significativas entre NGV, MCG e PROD; observaram-se correlações significativas positivas entre PROD e NGV e negativas entre PROD e NV e entre NGV e NV. As correlações ambientais foram moderadas e fracas, independentes se positivas ou negativas. A MCG foi a variável menos afetada, em relação aos níveis de irrigação. A cultivar BRS Marataoã foi a mais tolerante ao estresse hídrico e BRS Xique-xique, a menos tolerante quando submetidas ao nível de irrigação de 80%, intermediárias para 60 % e menores para 40%.
