Abstract

Water absorption ia the first and a most fundamental step of the germination process. Its control by the seed coat is not well understood, particularly in those plant species in which it is formidable enough as to render the seed impervious to water. Such is the case of Calopogonium mucunoides, a tropical forage legume species.
