The sludge generated from water treatment has been classified as a potential environmental pollutant. Because of its chemical composition similar to clay, was proposed to evaluate the effect of its incorporation as a partial substitute for traditional clay materials in the manufacture of aluminosilicate refractory bricks. The raw materials used were characterized by XRD and XRF; the prototypes designed were mixed, extruded, dried and firing at 1200°C, evaluating their linear shrinkage, apparent density, porosity, water absorption and mechanical and pyroscopic resistance (melting cone softening point). The results show the addition of 10% of sludges from industrial water treatment plant, contributedto elevate the softening point the clay that obtaining a refractory brick capable to supporting a temperature up to 1430 °C

“…The main sources of air pollution in the city of Arequipa come from activities such as brick and cement production and ashlar quarries. In brick production, clay is generally used as a raw material [19], cement is the main element used in urban buildings and is present in the air in different concentrations [9], and ashlar, material of volcanic origin, traditional in Arequipa's architecture, is extracted from several quarries where they are also cut and carved, generating ne ashlar particles found in the environment due to wind [20]. Concerning photovoltaic panels' e ciency, studies determined that if the dust particles are smaller, the e ciency losses are greater, due to their uniform distribution or deposition on the surface of the panel, therefore, the light that can attain the cells is less than for larger particles deposits [21].…”

Photovoltaic solar technology is undergoing remarkable progress and occupies an important place among the most used renewable energies. In the present study, the in uence of dust, wind and rain on the performance of a photovoltaic system operating in Arequipa -Peru was evaluated. To determine the e ciency of photovoltaic panels in uenced by external factors, a photovoltaic system was designed and installed, voltage, electric current, solar irradiance and temperatures were measured. For the dirt tests, three types of dust were used to simulate the atmospheric dust of the city: cement, ashlar (volcanic stone) and clay dust were used. The parameter considered for the deposition of the powders on the panels was surface density (g/m2). The particle size was determined by granulometry, the samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM / EDS), obtaining spectra, microphotographs and chemical composition.For the wind factor, three speeds were determined within a range of average speeds recorded in urban areas, and tests were carried out in natural rain conditions. The results show that from 06:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the energy generation e ciency of the photovoltaic panels decreases due to the increase of dust deposition. As well, it is shown that the in uence of the wind increases e ciency slightly and that the performance of photovoltaic panels is directly in uenced in rainy conditions.

El proyecto de investigación presenta el análisis de una problemática en los factores de calidad en el producto final en la elaboración artesanal de teja de arcilla. El objetivo general es, la identificación y análisis de los factores que influyen en el proceso de fabricación de teja roja para diseñar e implementar mejoras que permitan elevar su calidad. El problema identificado hace referencia a cómo el agrietamiento de teja roja afecta a la empresa manifestando disminución en su cartera de clientes, ocasionando pérdidas monetarias y desperdicio de materia prima. En la metodología de investigación empleada, se encuentran el uso de investigación de campo para identificar las causas principales de los defectos en el proceso. Los factores que siguen causando defectos son la cocción y el transporte, llegando a la conclusión de que las causas principales de los defectos son la preparación de la mezcla y el secado. Se logró disminuir el porcentaje de defectos de 5% a menos del 1%. El análisis de las causas de los defectos en el proceso de fabricación artesanal de teja, trae consigo un impacto económico en las empresas de la región, directamente en las ganancias obtenidas por millar de unidades, en promedio del 5 al 10%, que representa entre $100 y $150 por millar, además se consideraría un proveedor de calidad para los clientes, por lo tanta aumentaría su mercado.
