Abstract:O gênero Aloe, atualmente circunscrito em Xanthorrhoeaceae, compreende monocotiledôneas suculentas de importância ornamental e medicinal. Na terapêutica tradicional, utilizam-se o exsudato amarelo e o gel incolor das folhas de diferentes representantes. O exsudato apresenta C-glicosídeos antraquinônicos de efeito laxante estimulante.
