The combustion of fossil energy has resulted in the emission of a substantial quantity of greenhouse gases, leading to the occurrence of global warming and a cascade of climate-related issues. Among many fossil energy consuming and heavily polluting processes, cement manufacturing from the precalciner kiln system stands out as a significant contributor. Over the past few decades, a substantial body of research has been conducted with the aim of reducing both the energy consumption and environmental impact associated with this industry through the utilization of alternative fuel sources. The integration of alternative fuels (plastic waste, meat and bone meal, municipal solid waste, refuse-derived fuel, tire-derived fuel, wood waste, etc.) in cement manufacturing has garnered considerable attention due to its efficacy in substituting the thermal energy requirements historically met by fossil fuels (coal, petroleum coke, oil, natural gas, etc.), thereby mitigating greenhouse gases emissions (CO 2 ). The harshly alkaline conditions, elevated temperatures, and prolonged residence time of the rotary kiln facilitate the incineration of a diverse range of waste materials and hazardous substances (municipal solid waste, tirederived fuel, dioxins and furans, heavy metals, etc.). However, alternative fuel still causes many problems. In recent years, with the increasingly attractive carbon emissions, biomass has proven to be a capable energy to meet the growing demand for clean energy. Biomass alternative fuels used to replace fossil fuels may reduce carbon emissions, and this is the main goal of climate strategy in various countries in the world. This paper presents the latest advancements in the utilization of biomass alternative fuels within the cement industry, and thoroughly examines and deliberates upon many scholarly articles pertaining to this particular research area. Studies on the impact of biomass alternative fuels on environmental emission, and challenges that may encounter when using biomass replacement fuel have also been included in this review. This paper furnishes a comprehensive understanding and elucidation of biomass alternative fuels, encompassing their implementation in the cement industry, while accentuating their salutary ramifications on the environment. Subsequently, we scrutinize the principal quandaries pertaining to the cocombustion of biomass alternative fuel in the cement industry and proffer feasible proposals for targeted solutions.

The vehicle number has grown significantly in recent decades, resulting in a significant increase in the number of waste tires globally. The environment and public health are seriously endangered by the growing amount of waste tires. As a result, considerable effort is being put into the search for viable alternatives for sustainable management. Even though numerous treatments for waste tires have already been tested and proved successful, their continued industrial implementation remains difficult in both everyday life and research efforts. Finding practical, cost-effective, and ecologically friendly ways to manage waste tires is one of the biggest environmental challenges of the 21st century. By focusing on smart tire waste management, this study examines some of the most important decision-making challenges that support social and environmental sustainability. The main topics of this research are the examination of certain fundamental problems and challenges, as well as some key management strategies for this environmentally unfavorable type of increasing waste. This comprehensive analysis not only identifies significant gaps but also establishes the foundation for addressing some of the most significant decision-making issues in waste tire management by providing recommendations for further research in this important and vulnerable area of academic and practical analysis.

No significant differences between the commercial and recovered gypsum was found, which indicates that this by-product can be used for building materials, and the conversion process proceeds without significant variations in composition at low energy consumption [11,12,14]. Solving the environmental issues by reducing the waste generated by the industries of building and ceramic materials is a global priority due to their impact on the human health and ecosystems. Recovery of plaster molds wastes from fine ceramic industry is an important topic to address in order to reduce the use of natural gypsum resources and address environmental issues generated by solid wastes from landfill disposal. The main objective of this paper is related to the thermal behaviour study of the calcium sulphate dehydrate during the calcination and to determine the kinetic parameters for the dehydration reactions. Also, the effects of different heating rates on the course of dehydration are investigated, pointing out that the general state of dehydration does not change, although at a given temperature the mass loss is the same for different heating rate. On the other hand, the increase in the heating rate displaces the reaction towards high temperatures. Thus, based on the kinetic study carried out, it was established that the dehydration process needs to take place approximately 50 minutes at a constant temperature of 373 K. Finally, the dehydrated waste is used to obtain a new inorganic material, which can be used for geopolymer preparation. For geopolymeric mortar, 5 % and 10 % from fly ash was replaced with gypsum. The solutions of NaOH 5M and sodium silicate were used to activate the geopolymer. The obtained results indicated a good geopolymer structure formation.
