Capillary GC using pyridyl β‐cyclodextrin stationary phase

Abstract: A new beta-CD derivative, heptakis [2,6-di-O-pentyl-3-O-(4'-chloro-5'-pyridylmethyl)]-beta-CD, was synthesized by the selective introduction of a pyridyl group on the 3-positions of beta-CD. The chromatographic properties of the pyridyl beta-CD derivative were studied by using it as the stationary phase in capillary GC. The polarity of the prepared stationary phase was moderate, and the separation results demonstrated that the prepared stationary phase possessed excellent separation ability and chiral recognit… Show more

“…[1] A selective stationary phase and an efficient column preparation method are critical factors in GC technology. [2] In recent years, several typologies of materials with different structures and properties have been developed and proposed as GC stationary phases, such as polymers, [3][4][5] ionic liquids, [6,7] macrocycles, [8,9] metal-organic frame-works [10,11] and carbon nanotubes. [12][13][14] Among them, macrocycles have emerged due to their special chromatographic selectivity and separation mechanisms, resulting from their unique three-dimensional structures and outstanding thermal stability.…”
