“…A retrospective study conducted in Korea in children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome found seizure reduction in approximately 50% of patients and adverse events in 36%. 8 Of note, this is similar to the results of the present study. There are few previous reports of studies on refractory epilepsy and CBD in Asians, and the possibility of differences in efficacy rates by race is a subject for future research.…”

“…Due to the strict cannabis regulations in Asia and the limited number of countries where medical marijuana can be used legally, reports on epilepsy in Mongoloid populations are limited, with only 34 cases of Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome reported by a Korean research team in 2020. 8 Japan's regulatory law on cannabis, the Cannabis Control Law, was enacted in 1948 and has not been radically revised since its enactment. Buds and leaves are not permitted in the regulations but stems and seeds are permitted.…”

“…In another study on effective dose ranges for convulsive seizures in DS, adjunctive CBD led to reductions in convulsive seizure frequency, with a better safety and tolerability profile for the 10 mg/kg/day dose [13]. Another study group in South Korea reported CBD's effects on patients with LGS and DS, stating that substantial proportions of patients experienced a ≥50% seizure frequency reduction at 3-month (LGS 32.3% and DS 30%) and 6-month (LGS 29.4% and DS 20%) follow-ups, at a mean dosage of 10 mg/kg/ day [14]. In our study, 16 (53.3%) patients achieved ≥50% seizure reduction, with a median dosage of 10.7 mg/kg/day (IQR, 7.2 to 12.5).…”

“…In Asia, one study retrospectively evaluated the use of CBD in 42 patients with DS or LGS in South Korea and found that 33.3% of patients who received CBD at a dose of 10 mg/kg/day had at least a 50% reduction in seizure frequency after 3 months. 39…”
