“…The OR for mortality of PBS as a continuous variable (~1.4 combined with CCI or CDS) is comparable to those reported in other studies involving bloodstream infections . In addition, two studies of patients with CBI have used PBS≥2 as a cut‐off value to assess the risk of mortality and calculated ORs for mortality (4.10 and 6.21) are comparable to the ORs obtained in our cohort.…”

“…Creatinine levels were included in the models assessing the CDS, as this score does not include any variable recording information on chronic or acute kidney disease. The CCI, CDS and PBS were included as continuous or dichotomised variables in different models (≤2 and ≥3 were used as cut‐off CCI values, ≤3 and ≥4 were used for the CDS and ≤1 and ≥2 were used for the PBS). Thus, four different models were tested with the following comorbidity and severity measures: CCI and PBS as continuous variables (model 1), CCI and PBS as categorical variables (model 2), CDS and PBS as continuous variables (model 3) and CDS and PBS as categorical variables (model 4).…”
