“…However, some recent studies have demonstrated that several OBPs are specifically distributed in nonchemosensory organs, such as the male reproductive organs (Ban et al., ; Sun, Huang, Pelosi, & Wang, ). In the endoparasitoid wasp Meteorus pulchricornis , several OBP s ( MpulOBP6 , MpulOBP9 , MpulOBP10 , MpulOBP12 , MpulOBP15 , and MpulOBP16 ) are more highly expressed in the antennae, but MpulOBP2 and MpulOBP3 are predominantly expressed in the legs and abdomen, respectively (Sheng et al., ). Therefore, further functional analyses of these OBP s are needed to broaden our knowledge of olfaction.…”

“…In terms of the number of olfactory proteins, C. obducta had similar amount OBPs compared with the whole body transcriptome of Oedaleus infernalis . Compared with the insect antenna transcriptome (Chang et al, 2017;Nie et al, 2017;Rojas et al, 2018;Sheng et al, 2017;Wu et al, 2017;Yang et al, 2017Yang et al, , 2018) (File S8), C. obducta had an intermediate number of OBPs. The number of olfactory proteins identified in the whole body transcriptome of C. obducta is smaller than that inmost other species based on analyses of insect antennal genes.…”

“…The total number of CSPs found in different insect species varies widely (Pelosi et al, 2014), but the low number of CSPs reported here is in agreement with that reported for the scarab beetle Anomala corpulenta . Further studies, including other non-sensory tissues such as wings and pheromone glands, may increase the quantity of the reported CSPs (Sheng et al, 2017) in addition to studying the expression of CSPs in other developmental stages . However, it is important to note that all four CSPs reported here exhibited palpbiased expression.…”
