Cancer-Specific Survival Outcome in Early-Stage Young Breast Cancer: Evidence From the SEER Database Analysis

Abstract: BackgroundYoung women with breast cancer are determined to present poorer survival compare with elderly patients. Therefore, identifying the clinical prognostic factors in young women with early-stage (T1-2N0-1M0) breast cancer is pivotal for surgeons to make better postoperative management.MethodsThe clinicopathological characteristics of female patients with early-stage breast cancer from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results program between Jan 2010 and Dec 2015 were retrospectively reviewed and a… Show more

“…The remaining variables were also displayed as the year of diagnosis (2010–2013 and 2014–2017), race (White, Black, and Asian/Alaska Indian), marital status (married, separated, and never married or unmarried), grade/differentiation (I/well, II/moderate, and III+IV/poor+un), T stage (T1a, T1b, T2, T3a, and T3b), and FIGO stage (IIIC1 and IIIC2). Lastly, we randomly split these patients into the training and validation cohorts with a ratio of 7:3 as indicated by the previous studies ( 19 , 20 ).…”

“…The prognosis of Bcafad depends on the grade and stage at the time of diagnosis [14]. The breast cancer survival in pediatrics is worse than in adults [15]. Currently our patient is 16 months after radiotherapy and there is no tumour recurrence.…”

“…Surgical resection is the mainstay in the clinical treatment of solid tumors. However, because of the infiltrative nature of the malignancy, surgery may not remove the tumor cells completely. Chemotherapy followed by surgery is the common treatment regimen in clinics for clearance of residual tumor cells. Unfortunately, ∼33.3% of the postoperative tumor recurrence rate , and 10–40% of the 5 year survival rate reveal that the clinical benefits are far from meeting expectations. Moreover, since the chemotherapeutic drugs usually suffer from strong side effects, the patients would suffer secondary physical and psychological harm during the treatment.…”
