Can One-Dimensional Water Be Controlled by Transformation of Substitution Groups Based on Organic Hosts?

Abstract: Infinite 1D water chains/tapes have been well-tuned by transformation of substituted groups of organic hosts, (E)-3-(4-((1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)phenyl)acrylic acid and its derivatives, which demonstrates that water chains have been significantly controlled, easily understood and realized in view of crystal engineering.
