Schools are an important place for children’s exposure to electromagnetic fields, which may cause adverse health effects. To better understand environmental extremely low-frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MFs) exposure among elementary school students, we measured numeric values of ELF-MFs in five classrooms at four schools during digital learning class hours. The measurement of ELF-MFs was taken with an EMDEX II field analyzer. Specifically, we examined the level of exposure to ELF-MFs for each student’s seating position in the classroom. The results showed that ELF-MFs exposure levels were lower than those in the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection guidelines; however, there were significant differences in the level of magnetic field exposure at each school and at each student’s seat. The exposure to ELF-MFs at students’ seat positions was mostly caused by electrical appliances, electronic wiring, and distribution boxes, but the exposure level decreased as the distance increased. Therefore, it is important to design safe and appropriate environments for digital learning in schools, such as proper seating arrangements, to avoid ELF-MFs exposure to students as much as possible. Future studies should measure ELF-MFs levels in other areas and investigate the effects of exposure to ELF-MFs during school hours on children’s health.

Os meningiomas são tumores benignos intracranianos de evolução lenta que se originam nas meninges. Por serem assintomáticos, a maioria desses tumores, geralmente, são de difícil identificação. Entretanto, se não diagnosticados, podem comprimir vasos sanguíneos cerebrais levando ao óbito. A Ressonância Magnética (RM) é um método de imagem vital para o diagnóstico e caracterização desses tumores, particularmente importante para se estabelecer um plano de tratamento oncológico. O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever a importância da RM no diagnóstico e acompanhamento evolutivo dos meningiomas e na caracterização tissular, correlacionando os achados imagenológicos com análises histológicas do tumor. Este estudo constitui uma revisão bibliográfica narrativa. Os meningiomas são, geralmente, isointensos em T1 e T2, com variações ligadas à textura mais ou menos compacta ou hidratada do tecido, associados à presença de cistos, calcificações ou metaplasia adiposa. Podem provocar hiperostose, levando ao espessamento do osso afetado. Em imagens ponderadas em T1, pós contraste, os meningiomas, geralmente, aparecem com hipersinal homogêneo. A RM contribui, de forma promissora, para a detecção e caracterização dos meningiomas fornecendo dados prognósticos para o seu tratamento. Um diagnóstico preciso auxilia no acompanhamento evolutivo e pós cirúrgico. Em um período de 24 horas pós cirúrgico, a RM é capaz de identificar resíduos tumorais e recorrências tardias, comuns entre 10 a 20 anos depois da ressecção total do tumor.

RESUMOEste artigo objetiva pesquisar estudos acerca dos efeitos negativos dos campos eletromagnéticos, particularmente gerados artificialmente pelo uso e atividade de bens produzidos pela sociedade. Para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica em artigos acadêmicos incluindo, também artigos publicados na imprensa a respeito do assunto. Constatou-se que há fortes evidências que os Campos Eletromagnéticos têm gerado variados efeitos deletérios na saúde dos seres humanos expostos a estes campos. Verificou-se, por exemplo, que alguns procedimentos como manter telefones celulares há uma distância mínima determinada de pacientes de hospital e maquinário hospitalar, pode ser útil para se evitar distorções na saúde e no diagnóstico médico. Portanto, devido a relevância, amplitude e do pouco conhecimento do tema, tanto pela comunidade médica quanto pela sociedade em geral, sugere-se divulgação maior do assunto para que sejam tomadas medidas mínimas de segurança cabíveis e, também como forma de estímulo à ampliação de pesquisas para esclarecimento de possíveis efeitos ainda desconhecidos pela comunidade científica. ABSTRACTThis article aims to research studies on the negative effects of electromagnetic fields, particularly artificially generated by the use and activity of goods produced by society. For this, there was a bibliographical research in scholarly articles including also articles published in the press on the subject. It was found that there is strong evidence that electromagnetic fields have generated various deleterious effects on the health of humans exposed to these fields. It was found, for example, some procedures that maintain as mobile phones there is a certain minimum distance of hospital patients and hospital machinery may be useful to avoid distortions in the health and medical diagnosis. Therefore, due to the relevance, scope and little knowledge of the subject It is suggested disclosure greater subject to minimum measures of reasonable security are taken and also as a stimulus to the expansion of effects of possible clarification for research still unknown to the scientific community.
