Camp follower or counterinsurgent? Lady Templer and the forgotten wives

Abstract: Hannah West is a final year PhD student at the University of Bath. Her research explores the tensions surrounding women's participation in counterinsurgency and British Army attempts to control women's war labour. Through exposing women's stories her study undermines women's exclusion, reclaiming their histories and re-centering them as part of the narrative of 'front-line' 'combat' as a form of feminist activism.
